SMALL PRINT, WITHOUT THE FUSS

A tenancy contract or AST (Assured Shorthold Tenancy) agreement is one of the most important documents when you're letting a property. It includes all the do’s and don’ts and terms and conditions of your property let. So it needs to be clear, concise and most of all legally sound.

Luckily, Hello Neighbour like to keep things simple. We all know T&C's can be full of jargon, so we’ve removed the complexity. Our AST contract creation service is included in our Letting Move-In and Letting Full-Service packages, no surprise extras, no hidden costs, just a reassuringly simple service.

Here’s a quick jargon-free explainer

  • Put simply, an AST (Assured Shorthold Tenancy) contract is a fixed term contract, where a landlord retains the right to repossess their property once the fixed term comes to an end

  • AST contracts are the most common type of tenancy agreement used by private landlords in the UK

  • A few items must be included in an AST contract, including (but not limited to): the length of the tenancy; a start date of the tenancy; rental amounts and the date rent has to be paid by your tenant/s

Our expert team will advise you on all of the must-haves, plus other sensible terms to include to protect the interests' of you and your tenants.

Notably, AST contracts have been making the news recently in relation to the upcoming Renters Reform Bill. When this passes into law, Assured Shorthold Tenancies will be phased out and replaced with Assured Tenancies, which have different terms attached to them. However, these changes are a few years away, but if you have any questions about them, do get in touch, we'd be happy to answer any questions for you.

For now, you can rest assured that Hello Neighbour's expert team will guide you through the AST contract creation process. Once we’ve ticked every box together, and you’re happy with your contract, you and your tenants will always have access to your paperwork at the click of a button.
