Suzanne brings over 25 years of legal experience, including her time as General Counsel and Company Secretary at Abcam PLC. Now a portfolio landlord, she’s a strong advocate for smarter, simpler lettings, a mission that aligns closely with our own.

Her knowledge of the private rental sector, combined with board-level experience at both start-ups and global companies, makes her ideally placed to guide Hello Neighbour through our next phase of growth.

About Suzanne Smith

Suzanne began her legal career at a City law firm in 1994, before moving in-house for 25 years in the life sciences industry, including 12 years at General Counsel level. Most recently, she was Chief Legal Officer and Company Secretary of Abcam PLC in Cambridge.

After leaving the corporate world, Suzanne built a successful property portfolio in Kent, which she manages personally. Drawing on her legal background and experience as a landlord, she launched The Independent Landlord to offer landlords practical, reliable guidance, free of charge.

Today, The Independent Landlord is a trusted authority, helping tens of thousands of landlords and property businesses each week through its newsletter, website and YouTube channel.
